Tribes: Ascend Now Has 800,000 Subscribers

April 28, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

The newly-released FPS is doing well.

Tribes: Ascend, for those of you who do not know, was released just a few days ago on April 12th. The game received rave reviews from media outlets all over the gaming industry, and prompted yours truly to start a download for the game mere seconds ago.

In any case, the free-to-play first-person shooter has accrued over 800,000 players according to Gamasutra. This is quite a feat in today's gaming space, as competition is so stiff. Tribes: Ascend seems to be a bit unique in that it is not your "traditional" FPS. From what various gameplay trailers have shown, the game's mechanics seem to be akin to what you might find in the Unreal Tournament franchise.

So, go check it out! 800,000 people have given it a chance, and the aforementioned media response has been more than positive.  When all that is taken into account, it is possible that Tribes: Ascend could be the next big thing!
