In an interview with Destructoid, Crytek said that there is “not a fat chance” of a Wii-U version for Crysis 3. To this Destructoid’s own Hamza Aziz commented that he couldn’t understand how first person shooters could be fun on “that hulking controller”.
It’s really a shame that a lot of AAA titles don’t get Nintendo console versions. It’s also unfortunate that a lot of great Nintendo titles like the Legend of Zelda franchise aren’t on the PS3 or XBOX 360. It’s understandable though since everyone wants to make money and Nintendo is kind of picky about what titles are put onto their consoles. However it would be a good idea for Nintendo to broaden their horizons. Nintendo is already behind in the console arena, Sony and Microsoft are supposedly working on next gen devices already.
However back the problem of first person shooters and hulking controllers. I can see that holding a giant tablet and trying to play a game is no fun. It’s cute and fun when you’re playing on either the 3DS or Vita since they’re so small. This is where accessories come in, albeit it’s more money coming from your pocket but it’s a simple solution to be able to play a wider variety of games more easily on your console.
Again, Nintendo would be wise to port more AAA titles to their console. I’d be more inclined to buy a Wii if there were a lot more titles on that I recognize besides the Legend of Zelda.
