Sony has announced that a free Skype application will be headed to the PlayStation Vita tomorrow (on April 25) worldwide. The new app will be available for free from the "Media & Apps Social" category of the PlayStation Store.
The app, which works on both 3G and WiFi versions, will allow PS Vita owners to take Skype video calls on the device.
Skype for Vita uses the PS Vita's front and rear cameras, and also comes with a "background mode" allowing users to run Skype while playing a game or multitasking between other apps. You'll be able to take calls while you're in the game, provided that the game doesn't shut off network connectivity.
Here's what it looks like.
