If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Pikmin 4, then there’s no doubt you’re aware that news of the game has been scarce. It was only last year that Nintendo revealed their near competition of the Pikmin 4 title and we’re still awaiting its arrival. Thanks to Gamerant, who had the chance to speak with the legendary Nintendo developer, Shigeru Miyamoto, we finally have an update on the video game.
There has been plenty of content that Nintendo has been working with this past year. From the big upcoming Nintendo NX console release, a slew of big triple AAA titles for its grand launch, their step towards the mobile smart device market, along with rumors of Nintendo working on animated films, it’s no surprise that some titles were tossed to the back burner.
That’s exactly what happened with Pikmin 4 according to Miyamoto.
“Yes, you are right, and we’re working on [Pikmin 4]. So, you know, when we’re in development we have to create a list of priorities and it has been hard to kind of fit that into that list, but we’re hopefully starting to see that on the list now.”
It’s not entirely known quite yet just what software or even hardware was placed ahead of Pikmin 4, especially since last year Nintendo confirmed that the development of the game was nearly complete. Regardless, with company gearing towards its release of the latest console, Pikmin 4 could become more of the center focus sooner rather than later.
At the very least, we’re glad that Pikmin 4 wasn’t completely canned and fans of the franchise can still prepare to play as Captain Olimar once again.
