Report: Sony May Be Developing a DualShock 4 PC Wireless Adapter

July 6, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

Sony may be working on official PC support for the DualShock 4 controller.

When you use the DualShock 4 on the PC, you have to download 3rd party software like DS4Windows to get games to recognize the controller as an Xbox 360 gamepad. Sony has yet to offer official support for the device, but a new filing for a wireless Bluetooth adaptor suggests that support may be coming soon.

VG247 reports that a certification for the adaptor was filed recently by Sony and that its filing code refers to game controllers.

Sony chief Shuhei Yoshida recently said that support for PS4 hardware on the PC may be forthcoming as the PS4 and the PC share a lot of their internals. Likewise, it’s not difficult to get the Dual Shock 4 running on the PC with a bit of simple tweaking.

Official support has been a long time coming, and anyone who’s ever had issues with getting games to recognize the controller on the PC will be grateful for it.
