EA may have sent Syndicate to die, but Starbreeze is doing just fine. In addition to acquiring Payday developers, Overkill Software, the Darkness-studio has three of it's own new titles in the works and is allowing Overkill to continue it's post-launch support of Payday alongside development of a sequel.
The new internallly developed projects, according to Starbreeze CEO, Mikael Nermark, are P13, a downloadable title forPC, PSN, and XBL that's also a collaboration with Swedish film maker, Josef Fares, Cold Mercury, an F2P game that evolves the co-op concepts of Syndicate and a third completely secret title.
Starbreeze is a great team, so It's great news to see they have much to do. It's also always wonderful when a creativity-friendly acquisition happens. (Fun fact: While they're an independant, usually contract studio, Starbreeze is also publicly traded.)
