Call of Duty Elite, the service which offers each piece of DLC earlier than map packs and at a reduced price, has been something of a hot topic since its announcement. Despite it being better value than map packs, certain internet people have taken it upon themselves to become hugely offended by the scheme. This is no longer a problem for Japanese individual who felt ripped off by having a choice of things to buy.
Square Enix, the company that publishes Call of Duty in Japan, have announced that localisation efforts for the supplementary service have been cancelled. This is partly because of there being two versions of the game, one with subtitles and one with the vocals dubbed into Japanese, making the Elite service far more complicated than it needed to be.
Whether there will be renewed efforts when Black Ops 2 is released later in the year has yet to be seen, but I imagine Activision and Square are fairly dedicated to offering every option they can in return for your hard-earned.
