Ever since the E3 of last year where Microsoft announced Halo 4, developer 343 Industries shielded the game from the media spotlight for several long antognoizing months. However, during the Game Developer Conference, the studio finally started to lift the lid on details and screenshots pertaining to the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive shooter. Since then, they've been revealing tidbits of information for Halo 4 including the details of its multiplayer component. To continue that momentum, Microsoft has now announced the worldwide release date for the shooter.
Halo 4 is currently scheduled for a worldwide launch on November 6th, 2012.
Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios, said on the announcement:
"We are beginning a new saga with Halo 4 and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences. Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and, with Halo 4 leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history."
The Halo series has sold more than 40 million units ever since its debut on the original Xbox. Halo 4, meanwhile, marks the first installment in a new trilogy for the franchise which is inevitably due to carry on into the next generation Xbox.
