Sony may have a new iteration of the DualShock 4 controller releasing alongside the upcoming PlayStation Neo console. A new patent was discovered online that showcases a DualShock 4 controller with additional buttons along with certain buttons being readjusted.
During this year’s E3 event, we didn’t get to see the grand reveal of Sony’s next PlayStation 4 console, dubbed the PlayStation Neo. Likewise, Microsoft kept some of its upcoming Xbox One console a secret, but recently, a new patent surfaced online that could release alongside the upcoming PlayStation 4 Neo.
This particular patent was found by NeoGaf user Kyoufu and with it, we noticed the introduction of four brand new buttons. These two sets of buttons are placed on the grips of the controller, similar to the Xbox One Elite controllers.
The Start and Share button have also found new spots on the controller, possibly to enlarge the touchpad portion of the controller, though that is purely speculative right now. It’s important to note that patents are filed all the time from big name companies and this particular DualShock 4 controller very well may never see the light of day.
Even though we may never get to see a fully functioning new DualShock 4 controller iteration, we want to know what your thoughts are on the new patent. Leave us a comment on if you like the new changes or if you would like to see something else done with the controller down below.
