While Japan may already have Yakuza 0, the video game is still not available within western territories. Today a brand new trailer released for the game that gives off some background story to Kazuma Kiryu. If you haven’t already watched the Japanese version of the game, take a look at the trailer posted above.
Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the Yakuza series, taking place within the year 1988. Players will witness Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima as they find themselves getting involved in the Vacant Lot dispute. This dispute had become famous because of the powerful dark Japanese organizations attached and it’s up to players investigating the surrounding events in order to maintain their innocence and safety.
Because this is a prequel to the popular Yakuza video game franchise, this may allow plenty of newcomers to jump aboard the series. However, you’ll have plenty of time to wait before the video game releases on PlayStation 4 sometime next year, 2017. Likewise, it’s unknown if western territories will also see the release of Yakuza 0’s PlayStation Vita companion video game, Ryu ga Gotoku 0.
