Microsoft is releasing a special edition Xbox Elite Wireless Controller with a “gritty, battle-weathered design” for the Gears of War 4 launch.
It’s pretty gory—with blood splatter and laser-etched gouges—but still looks pretty slick. There’s a custom D-pad featuring weapon load-outs, and a set of six thumbsticks to choose from. For $200, players will also get a Gears of War–themed carrying case for the controller, two D-pad sets, a custom red and black USB cable, download codes for three Gear packs, and, of course, the controller.
So if you’ve got a couple hundred extra dollars to spare, it looks like a fantastic option. Microsoft’s Gears of War 4 limited edition controller is available for pre-order now.
The custom D-pad with weapon load-outs is a particularly cool idea—adding to the customization the Xbox Elite Wireless controller already offers.
During its E3 press conference, Microsoft revealed the Xbox One S, an updated console 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, with support for HDR color and 4K video.
The console is expected to launch in late August. There will be three versions—500GB, 1TB, and 2TB.
