South Park: The Fractured But Whole Gets Release Date, New Gameplay Details

June 13, 2016 by Nick Monroe

The next South Park video game is coming out December 6th of this year.

SouthParkFracturedButWholeHeaderTrey Parker and Matt Stone showed up to the Ubisoft Press Conference this year to give us a look at the gameplay of The Fractured But Whole South Park game, and they even committed to a release date of this year for it.

The storyline is a parody of the Marvel cinematic universe. Cartman and friends dress up and play superheroes with the goal of making a billion dollars off their own Superhero movie franchise. When they set up the production schedule, they get into a disagreement about what to produce and when to release each movie, leading to a Captain America: Civil War style of break-up between the group into two factions. As the new kid who rose to power from Stick to Truth as the King, you start from the bottom of the coolness ladder again. You get into Cartman’s basement and he sets up an Coon-stagram account for you to set up your superhero identity, where you basically pick your class and character stats for the adventure.

Combat in The Fractured But Whole has evolved, centered around the themes of space and time. In Stick of Truth you were confined to standing in one spot during battle, but The Fractured But Whole gives you the freedom to move around during battle. This allows you to knock enemies backwards (and vice versa), even pushing them into other enemies or into objects in the nearby area. Time brings back the Fart powers from the first game, giving you special abilities that include changing the battle’s turn order among other things.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole sees release on December 6th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can pre-order the game here, and you’ll get the Stick of Truth to play for free if you do.
