New Dishonored 2 Gameplay at Bethesda’s E3 Conference

June 13, 2016 by Nick Monroe

Shadow Walking, Dominos, and Casual Time Travel within.

Dishonored2GameplayHeaderOne of the main points of demonstration during Bethesda’s E3 presentation was showcasing Dishonored 2 gameplay for the first time.

Corvo meets with Emily on the anniversary of her mother’s death. It’s revealed that Corvo is indeed Emily Kaldwin’s Father, and also that someone is trying to assassinate Emily Kaldwin’s political enemies in an attempt to make both of them look bad. Someone makes an attempt to seize the throne, and Emily and Corvo are forced to flee Dunwall and try to get to the bottom of this new political conspiracy.

The missions in Dishonored 2 have a greater focus on themes from a lore and gameplay point. They show us the Dust District, where the Overseers are at war with the Howler Gang. Making use of vertical space to navigate, we get to see the awesome world of Dishonored 2 for the first time via gameplay. Dust from the mines reduces visibility for both the guards in the area, as well as Emily, causing a significant shift in gameplay.

Emily makes her way to the Vice Overseer, and the decisions made in dealing with them have an effect on the End Game. We see Emily use a mesmerize power to avoid combat with a group of guards, and it’s noted that Dishonored 2‘s skill trees are more fleshed out for customization in this game. In the Overseer Office, Emily uses the domino effect to link a stun mine’s fate with several guards at once.

The end of the demonstration shows off a different kind of mission, where time itself is warped, and the player has the ability to travel back and forth in time to navigate the area. It’s best left unexplained, and needs to be seen to fully understand.

Dishonored 2 arrives on November 11th of this year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook for all the latest updates.
