It looked a bit hit and miss for a while, but Takedown, has been successfully funded on Kickstarter.
Takedown is touted as a “realistic squad-based tactical shooter” by its creator Christian Allen, whose previous work extends to Halo Reach among other titles. Takedown almost failed to meet its 200k mark when the team behind it made the drastic decision to rename the game Takedown, which used to be called something so forgettable that even I can’t remember what it used to be. (FYI: It was called “A Crowdsourced Tactically Hardcore Shooter”)
Allen recruited developers formerly of Red Storm Entertainment, Surreal, Monolith, Ubisoft and Microsoft Games Studios, with credits like Rainbow Six, Rainbow Six Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon 2, GRAW, F.E.A.R., Condemned, and World of Tanks under their belts.
With over 200k in funding, the team now has what it needs to take the game further into development. However, unlike projects like Wasteland 2 and The Banner Saga, the developers of Takedown intend to invite private investment to fully develop the game with.
