Unless you’re living under a rock, then you probably heard of Double Fine’s Kickstarter, which grossed about four-million dollars from the community. They were only asking for $400,000 in funding for the game’s completion.
As the title of his article implies, Kickstarter saw an enormous jump in business following Double Fine’s campaign. A blog post from Kickstarter brings the shocking numbers to light, and they are indeed… jaw-dropping.
The post reads, “In the month before Double Fine, the Video Games category averaged 629 pledges per week. After Double Fine's launch, the Video Games category averaged 9,755 pledges per week, excluding pledges to Double Fine itself.”
When you take into account the fact these numbers are excluding of Double Fine pledges, you realize that the boost in business Kickstarter saw was gigantic.
