Ubisoft has released a brief new trailer for Assassin's Creed III, focusing on some of the weapons Connor will have at his disposal as he fights his way through the most iconic battles of the American Revolution.
In addition to the franchise's trademark hidden blade, Connor will also wield a tomahawk in the shape of the Assassin emblem, a bow and arrow, and dual flintlock pistols. In keeping true to the weaponry of the era, the pistols will be slow to reload and won't be very effective at long range, so you'll need to get in close if you want to fill someone full of lead. The bow and arrow, on the other hand, will be much better for long-range stealth kills, presumably at the expense of stopping power.
Strangely enough, the most dramatic addition to Connor's arsenal, the rope dart, is nowhere to be seen. We first reported on the new weapon after it was outed by a Spanish-language game mag last week, and it's been confirmed by the slew of previews that went up today around the 'Net. With the new gadget, Connor will be able to impale guards, then string them up from tree branches. I don't know about you, but I certainly think that's worthy of a few seconds in the trailer.
Assassin's Creed III will be out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 30 in North America and October 31 in Europe. A Wii U version is also in the works, but the release date is obviously dependent on the console's launch.
