The co-president of Naughty Dog, Evan Wells, had a surprise image to share on Twitter just now.
As you know, the studio most famous for developing the Uncharted series is hard at work on a new game called The Last of Us. Players take on the roles of two survivors in the post-apocalyptic environment named Ellie, a teenage girl, and Joel. The two must survive the apocalypse as some sort of parasitic organism takes over human hosts in the same way the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis fungus takes over ants and snails as a form of mind control.
The picture Wells posted is a bust of one of the infected characters, who were unlucky enough to have their minds disassembled by the brain-warping parasite. We'll expect to face these foes in The Last of Us, along with hostile survivors.
The Last of Us is slated for a 2012 release on the PlayStation 3.
