Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Far Cry 3, showcasing brand new footage of the game's insanity-fueled gameplay.
Alongside the more action-packed stuff, we see shots of beautiful wildlife, jetskis, hang gliders, and the trippy aftermath of the island's hallucinogenic mushrooms. Hell, if it weren't for all the bad guys shooting at you, this would actually be a pretty relaxing vacation.
There's also a tag at the end for GameStop's pre-order exclusives, which apparently include "four missions hosted by Hurk and his bomb-carrying monkeys." Now, I'm not one to pass judgment quickly, but really? Everything we've seen of Far Cry 3 so far has had a rather intense, gravely serious edge to it, and now you're throwing a potbellied redneck and some trained monkeys into the mix?
I'm all for comic relief, but a tone is key. This feels a bit like giving Oskar Schindler a talking dog sidekick. On the bright side, this may be one instance where cutting content from the core experience to sell it back as DLC actually improved the game.
Far Cry 3 is out for the PS3, 360, and PC on September 4 in North America and September 6 in Europe.
