So, it looks like Phil Harrison is already making waves over at Microsoft UK. Whether or not the release of the BBC iPlayer was pushed ahead on the Xbox360 or not is a mystery, but I’m willing to suspect he had something to do with it.
In any case, the service goes live today. You’ll be able to watch Doctor Who and giggle in grade-school perversion each time he utters the words Sonic Screwdriver – or you can go watch middle-aged men drive around in Bugatti Veyrons, making you feel even worse about your life in the form of Top Gear.
Mind you, this will be the absolutely hilarious British incarnation of Top Gear. Not the silly American one. The American one is smelly – smelly isn’t good.
In particular Microsoft fashion, they’ve added Kinect functionality to the player. So, if you didn’t already feel like a buffoon dancing around your living room, you will now. You’ll be able to karate chop and poke your way through the interface, or you can use your voice. I will be using my voice, because I loathe physical activity.
It will be free to all Xbox LIVE members. Yes, free. I know, Microsoft and “free†have not been closely related as of late but it will be free for all Xbox LIVE members. Go, now, and rejoice!
