Microsoft and Capcom are going after players who are using characters currently unavailable in Street Fighter X Tekken. The characters were discovered on the disc by hackers and designed to be unlocked as a paid DLC.
“Yes, we’re seeing news of this. Quite ballsy for folks to be taking hacked Xbox 360s on Live where they are detectable,” said Christian Svensson of Capcom.
“In any event, we already have opened channels of communication with Microsoft on these issues Friday night. If you can capture screens or video of this in action (as some have already) we’re working on bans for boxes and accounts with Microsoft for haxxors.”
Capcom locked away 12 additional characters in Street Fighter X Tekken so they could sell them later. The company argues that this would eliminate the need for large downloads, but the community says that it's nothing more than an act of greed.
The on-disc content for Street Fighter X Tekken will reportedly cost over $100 to unlock.
