Operation Raccoon City extended by Free DLC

March 16, 2012 by Mat Growcott

After the fallout seen after the release of Street Fighter X Tekken, Operation Raccoon City gets free DLC.

Despite a few negative early reviews/previews, Operation Raccoon City is still going to be a very big deal when it comes out next week. The chance to revisit Raccoon City and fight hoards of proper zombies all over again is too much for some Resident Evil lovers and, so long as you don't buy it at GAME, there's a good chance you'll be able to trade it right back in if you're at all disappointed.

Obviously that's not something that Capcom want you to do, so they've announced a free DLC pack will be released a few weeks after release, April 11th to be precise, in which you'll be able to face off against the game's main protagonists as a US Special Ops team. A "familiar face" is also being teased, Joystiq says that the Spec Ops mission takes place during Resident Evil 3.

Whether the DLC is on disk has yet to be seen, but the more cynical amongst us reckon that perhaps this DLC isn't the gift it seems to be, and is more a way of extending a lacklustre game. I guess we'll find out over the next week.
