At the end of next month Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness finally arrives. This setting takes place after Star Ocean: The Second Story, but before Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. The protagonist’s planet has contact with an alien race from space, forever changing the world he thought he knew. The story will have multiple endings – but there’s also going to be an emphasis on gameplay depth too, according to this new trailer.
One of the first points the trailer recommends is collecting resources to improve your gear. Scattered around the world are mining and harvest spots that give you components necessary to craft more powerful equipment. They show off some sort of smoke bomb design being enhanced in-game, as well as augmenting your sword with better materials. The next part of the trailer goes over unlocking skills upgrades and other bonuses. The Specialties menu setup reminds me of Fallout 4’s perk system, strangely enough. You have the simple crafting related skills like fishing, cooking, and smithery. But you can also see more complex options available: Zoology, Ornamentation, and Entomology are just a few examples of that. The third point of the trailer is all about putting your skills to use, by embarking on side quests. According to the narrator, Star Ocean’s side quest system will offer “endless” adventure.
