Ned Luke has chimed in Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse in the Hills.

He shared this message on Twitter:

Daddy’s back bitches

Of course, Ned already knew that Michael De Santa was in Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse in the Hills. He did new voice and performance acting for this update.

Interestingly, Rockstar also seemed to have updated De Santa’s appearance, possibly to match how Ned has changed a little bit. And we know some fans are asking why.

Why Is Michael De Santa Really Old Now?

For those who don’t remember, Rockstar decided to launch an interesting new rule for the Grand Theft Auto HD universe.

As they revealed in this trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar reboot the continuity with the games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The games that we have gotten since then have been set in the Grand Theft Auto HD universe. This alludes to how the games have now adapted to the HD era inaugurated by the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The main rule for the HD universe is that all the games happen in real time. What this means is that Grand Theft Auto IV was deliberately set in the 2000s, and Grand Theft Auto V was subsequently set for the 2010s.

While some Grand Theft Auto IV DLC went back to tell stories earlier in the timeline, they were generally still in the same few years that these games were in.

How The HD Universe Rules Changed For Grand Theft Auto Online

For Grand Theft Auto V, things changed because Rockstar abandoned plans for DLC in favor of Grand Theft Auto Online.

When Franklin Clinton reappeared in Grand Theft Auto Online: The Contract, he had also gotten considerably older. This time Rockstar didn’t go back to tell stories of side characters.

Instead, Grand Theft Auto Online: The Contract let us catch up to where Franklin’s life gone.

For the same reason, we expect Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse in the Hills will catch us up to speed on why the De Santas are now real estate agents or brokers.

We can’t discount the possibility that they run their own real estate company themselves. But whatever it is, we expect a lot of players are going to feel their mortality a bit, as this will strike close to home.

But it’ll be fun to catch up to Michael, and see if he’s somehow find some new meaning in his life after all these years.
