A fan raises a really good question about Grand Theft Auto 6.

WrongTemperature5768 started this thread on the GTA6 subreddit:
Will Gta 6 Have Wheel/Flight Stick Support?
I really enjoyed playing gta v with a wheel and stick shift, unfortunately the new versions of the game broke this mod and I was hoping this would be natively supported.
It would be an amazing feature that should be in this game.
Why Won’t Rockstar Add Support For These Controllers For Their Games?
Of course, we expect some fans answer that this is obvious. Rockstar won’t add support for these peripherals because only a small number of players will ever ask or make use of this.
They also want fans to play as intuitively as possible. What that means is they will want to make it so that you can use the same controller that’s already in your hand to drive land or sky vehicles.
The Case For Adding Support For Racing Wheels And Flight Sticks
The thing is, this is an interest that stems from something Rockstar have themselves mastered. Even from a third person perspective, Rockstar’s games demonstrate a mastery of immersion.
You may be pulling off heists instead of exploring dungeons, but on a conceptual level, the notion of immersion is the same.
And clearly, a good flight stick and racing wheel will do wonders to increase immersion when playing racing and flight sim games.
This is not something Rockstar has to add; but as one of the biggest franchises, you would think Rockstar would add such support in, even if it was just to flex on their peers.
The Premium Rockstar Experience
Ultimately, fans are looking for this because they think of Grand Theft Auto as a premium game, and of Rockstar as a premium game developer.
It is somewhat odd that Rockstar doesn’t investigate the technical side as much for their games compared to other developers. We’re sure there are fans who would also like to play Grand Theft Auto in VR, for example.
Now that Rockstar is embracing the GTA RP community, maybe they’re also more willing to explore these sides of gaming and how to incorporate it to their own games too. Since they’re working on polishing a ‘content complete’ game now, they certainly have more than enough time to also add support for all these different control schemes.
We can’t guarantee these features for Grand Theft Auto 6 when it launches, but hopefully Rockstar takes notice that the demand is out there.
