Cyberpunk 2077 Just Hit An Impressive Milestone

November 26, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

The game surpassed a milestone faster than The Witcher 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest mainline installment from the folks at CD Projekt Red. It’s been several years since this game launched, and we know the developers are cooking up a few projects. Despite the game being five years old, players are still enjoying it. In fact, the game just hit a notable milestone that might persuade some RPG players to give it a shot if they haven’t yet.

Thanks to the folks at VGC, we’re finding out that CD Projekt Red just hit 35 million copies sold. Players worldwide have been picking up this game nonstop, and it even saw a bit of an uptick in sales this year. There’s a lot to love about the game, despite the troublesome launch it had when it first landed in the marketplace. Of course, that said, it’s a game that hit an impressive milestone faster than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt managed to do.

CD Projekt Red recently held a financial results presentation, during which Cyberpunk 2077’s latest milestone was unveiled. That game managed to hit 35 million units sold in just five years. As noted by the VGC, this is a year faster than what The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt managed to do. That’s notable, as The Witcher 3 has been a highly praised RPG for years.

Cyberpunk 2077 also had to put in the work. After several delays, CD Projekt Red released the game in a broken state. It was riddled with bugs and technical problems, prompting returns and even the game’s exodus from the PlayStation Store. Fortunately, the developers kept at it and turned things around, giving players an RPG experience that shouldn’t be missed.

As mentioned, there are still players picking up copies of the game, but it’s also partly due to the title getting a new surge of interest via PlayStation Plus. When the game launched on the subscription service, not only did more players enjoy it, prompting new sales, but also interest in the Phantom Liberty DLC grew.

Currently, CD Projekt Red has a few projects in the works. For one, we know that the developers are working on a new Cyberpunk game. However, The Witcher 4 is also being developed right now, which will be the next game we receive from the development studio.
