Could GTA 6 Show Up At The Game Awards In Any Way?

November 24, 2025 by Todd Black

We know Geoff Keighley would love that…

Can you believe it’s almost the end of November? It’s sad, but it’s true. We’re almost to the end of the month, which means that we’re almost to December, and that means we’re almost to the end of the year. No matter how you slice it, 2025 is coming to an end soon, and that means that there is “little time left” for certain big things to happen before the clock strikes 2026. For GTA 6 fans, it means that there’s basically five weeks left for something to happen to “turn this year around” for the better, and people are getting a bit desperate for that “turn around.”

For example, despite the fact that it’s been almost three weeks since the announcement of GTA 6 being delayed until November 19th, 2026, some people are still hoping for some kind of positive announcement by Rockstar Games this year, and their eyes are fixed on The Game Awards. Why? Well, the man behind them, Geoff Keighley, is known for trying to get as many “World Premieres” at the show as possible to get “clout” for the show. So, getting even the tiniest glimpse of Rockstar’s upcoming title would be a huge boon for him…and his show.

Now, is that likely to happen? More than likely not. If you recall, the game’s first trailer dropped in December, but NOT at The Game Awards. The whole internet likely would’ve watched that show had it dropped there, but it didn’t. Instead, it just dropped online on its own and let the people watch it when they were ready.

The second trailer came out in May of this year, which was well before Geoff Keighley’s second show, Summer Games Fest. Are you picking up a trend here? Yeah, it seems that Rockstar Games is perfectly fine with Geoff Keighley NOT being the recipient of their games and clout, and they’re hardly the only people to do that. Nintendo rarely, if ever, shows up at those shows, outside of accepting award wins, and then, there’s Team Cherry.

You might recall that Team Cherry’s most recent title was also one that had been in the wings for a long time and hadn’t announced its release date. Geoff Keighley definitely wanted to get the announcement of the release date at his Gamescom show, but instead, all he could get was a brief glimpse of gameplay and to ANNOUNCE that the release date would be revealed on Team Cherry’s YouTube channel the next day.

Could something be shown at The Game Awards by Rockstar? Sure. But we wouldn’t hold our breath on it.
