There are plenty of games we’re all looking forward to checking out next year. However, among those games that some of us likely anticipate might very well get pushed out of the calendar year. It’s the games industry after all, and delays are always prevalent. Studios want to ensure the game they deliver appeals to their target audience. So, it’s common to see delays to ensure the projects are as polished as possible. One of those games some of us were hoping to see next year, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, might already be skipping 2026 internally.
Just as delays are prevalent in the games industry, so are rumors—the latest rumor to circulate online this past weekend concerned Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. According to several reports, it looks like Naughty Dog needs more time to work through the game to get it ready. So not only is it likely not to see a launch next year, it’s not even going to show up at this year’s The Game Awards.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Skipping The Game Awards
The Game Awards is a major gaming ceremony held in December. It’s a show that fans of the industry tune in to annually to see which studios manage to scoop up awards like Game of the Year. However, beyond the awards handed out for the accomplishments studios have pulled off, there’s a slew of world premiere trailers.
Last year, during The Game Awards, Naughty Dog revealed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet to the world. It’s their first brand-new IP that they have been chipping away at. Of course, since then, we’ve seen the studio remain quiet as they continued working on the game. As a result, details about the game are still scarce. That said, it’s a science fiction game that aims to blend its previous works, like Uncharted and The Last of Us, with themes from science fiction shows like Cowboy Bebop.
We’ll, of course, have to sit by and wait to see more, but don’t anticipate that happening next month. As mentioned, thanks to VGC, we’re finding out that credible insiders like Jeff Grubb have noted the game won’t be featured during the ceremony next month. It’s also speculated that the game won’t even be ready for a launch next year. That could mean we might not see Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet release exclusively for the PlayStation 5. After all, rumors suggest we’re just a couple of years away from the launch of the next-generation console platforms. But again, take this as nothing more than a rumor right now.
