Did you buy Borderlands 4’s first Bounty Pack? Gearbox has you covered.

What’s The Deal With Bounty Pack 1?
Gearbox revealed a roadmap for Borderlands 4’s first year that includes five Bounty Packs. These are DLC packs that come packed with so much content that they’re like expansions. Gearbox promised the following:
- distinct areas
- new missions
- unique bosses
- Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards
- new gear and weapons
- new vehicles
- Vault Hunter cosmetics
These Bounty Packs are also paid DLC packs. While you could pay for these packs as they came out, Gearbox is also offering a Bounty Pack Bundle.
And that bundle was part of both Borderlands 4’s Deluxe Edition and Super Deluxe Edition. That means some players already paid for the Bounty Packs as part of their pre-orders.
What Happened To The First Bounty Pack?
When Gearbox dropped Bounty Pack 1 last week, they made it free. That’s right, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, the mission where you join Rush in taking on Minister Screw, as made free for everyone who owned the game.
Gearbox clearly did this to make the community happy. The common refrain from Borderlands 4 fans after launch was the game turned out very good, but it lacked a proper endgame.
Casual observers may not have clearly understood that Borderlands’ fans were happy with the game itself, because it also launched with technical issues. But the community isn’t really that negative on the game as a lot of people assumed.
Still, the endgame snowballed into a bigger issue especially after fans were largely unsatisfied with the prior free event, the Horrors of Kairos.
Gearbox’s decision did make players happy over the weekend, but some fans were right to ask one thing:
So What Happens To Everyone Who Paid For The First Bounty Pack?
Creative director Graeme Timmins had a quick explanation over on Twitter:
You’ll get a 5th one next year!
And that’s more than enough reason to be excited for Borderlands 4 in 2026. But it also raises new questions, this time good ones.
What Could We Get In Bounty Pack 5?
Gearbox has decided they will extend their roadmap with a 5th Bounty Pack DLC in 2026. We don’t know if they are pushing forward a Bounty Pack they originally planned for 2027, or if it will be entirely new.
It obviously helps them that they have kept their plans close to the chest. But that 5th Bounty Pack could be something huge, or it could be something that reconnects us with a franchise fan favorite.
