With Total War: Warhammer now available on Steam, its creators at Creative Assembly have released a “Making Of” video—the first in a series of several.
The video offers insight from Mike Simpson, Alisdair Jarrold and Jim Whitston.
The first video focuses on game design, which discusses the challenges of adapting the tabletop fantasy battles into the form of a video game. The developers talk about what it was like to convert the miniatures game into a Total War game for the first time, and how it differs from other Total War games, which have been largely based on real world history rather than fantasy.
The developers also talk about the complexities of incorporating non-standard elements like magic, giant units and flying units, which are staples of the tabletop game.
We recently reviewed Total War: Warhammer and gave it a 9/10, calling it one of the most comprehensive Warhammer experiences ever made.
