Rockstar may soon be giving PlayStation Plus fans a solid after the recent delay for Grand Theft Auto 6.

According to billbil-kun, writing for Dealabs, Grand Theft Auto V is returning to PlayStation Plus. In specific, it will be coming back in the PlayStation Plus Extra tier on November 18, 2025.
Given the timing, fans may speculate that this is happening as PR management after the delay. But that may not be the case, as much as that may surprise you.
Grand Theft Auto V Keeps Leaving And Returning To PlayStation Plus
If you are not a PlayStation Plus subscriber now, you may not know that Grand Theft Auto V regularly rotates in and out of the service. It was removed last May 2025, and it has been going in and out in roughly six-month intervals.
It may seem contradictory for Sony and Microsoft to offer a rotating library of games to subscribers. This seems to be part of the overall business model.
The idea is gamers use their subscriptions to test out games they would not have bought otherwise. With that in mind, the companies would make more money if they could then sell those games after they decide they like them.
For this reason, Sony and Microsoft offer discounts for games that they add to the rotating library. Rockstar definitely made some extra money in this way as well.
Game Pass Subscribers Are Good
Grand Theft Auto V was added to Game Pass just last April. To punctuate it even further, Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced was added to PC Game Pass in particular.
And really, all versions of the game were added to Game Pass Standard and Ultimate subscribers. Because of this, Game Pass subscribers had access to all PC and console versions of the game. That allowed Game Pass subscribers to play with all their friends, regardless of what version they had.
Of course, Microsoft changed their tiers since then, so we can’t speak to how that arrangement changed. But Xbox owners were doing just fine right until now.
Rockstar Should Go All The Way
While this may all have been a coincidence, Rockstar now has an opportunity to make their fans happy. Grand Theft Auto V is launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
If Rockstar wanted to, they could keep Grand Theft Auto V in both PlayStation Plus and Game Pass so subscribers could play it until Grand Theft Auto 6 launches. This may not be enough to keep everyone happy, but it would go a long way.
