Rockstar’s next upcoming original release has received some surprising accolades.
Fan Twitter account GTA 6 Countdown shared the news:
GTA 6 and Trailer 2 have just been nominated for multiple awards at The Golden Joysticks.
– Most Wanted Game.
– Best Game Trailer.
How Can A 2026 Game Get 2025 Awards?
Each award giving body creates their own rules on how nominees get nominated and are awarded. In this case, the Golden Joysticks are run by Future Publishing, also the owners of games media outlets like GamesRadar.
They provide this description of the awards show on the official site:
Established in 1983, the Golden Joystick Awards are the world’s longest-running public-voted games awards, with a star-studded ceremony held in London.
The show is now in its 43rd year, and continues to recognize the talent present all across the video game industry.
From those who create experiences that enrich our lives and transfix us during our downtime, to the people that bring those characters and worlds to life, there are plenty of games and studios that deserve recognition.
The Golden Joystick Awards clearly have a rich legacy in the video game industry. But since these are awarded by the public, they operate by different rules from the Oscars, the BAFTAs, and of course, The Game Awards.
Other awards shows like The Game Awards also have awards for best trailer or most anticipated game. So this isn’t out of the picture for the Golden Joysticks.
Does Grand Theft Auto 6’s Second Trailer Deserve An Award?
The public will ultimately decide if the latest trailer deserves accolades. But we can certainly talk about it here.
As Reddit debated last week, the first trailer has twice as many views as the second trailer. But that isn’t necessarily a sign the first trailer is better.
The second trailer will be judged by its own merits. And as something that will whet our appetites, it clearly does a lot more.
The first trailer established the characters, atmosphere, and setting. But the second trailer shaped our perception of the world even better.
We were shown even more key characters. Some of these characters received descriptions on Rockstar’s website and PR.
On top of that, we also got a bigger picture of what Jason and Lucia will be doing.
We think the biggest thing for this trailer is that it dispensed with the satires of real-life online personalities. That alone could be enough to boost its popularity.
