Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake has passed two million copies sold following a wildly successful (albeit belated) PC release.
"We've moved over two million copies – that's including PC," Remedy's head of franchise development, Oskari Hakkinen told CVG. "So after a slow start it's turning into something really positive. It's definitely had legs. I think narrative experiences just have a tendency for that."
Hakkinen went on to say that the Alan Wake's long term success was due to strong word of mouth, calling the game a "cult classic."
We already knew that the PC version of the game was a resounding success, managing to recoup its development costs in just two days, but this new figure helps to put an exact figure on that feat. Since launching back in 2010, the 360 version has sold a little over 1 million copies, meaning the PC version was nearly match that figure in just 27 days. Not too shabby.
Remedy has also announced that the boxed release of Alan Wake's PC port will finally be released in North America on April 3.
A downloadable followup, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, recently hit the Xbox Live Arcade to mostly positive reviews.
