Borderlands 4 Dominates PlayStation September Sales Chart

October 3, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

PlayStation reveals the official leading games for the month of September.

Borderlands 4 was released into the marketplace this past month. After being available for a few weeks, those of you who were keen on picking this game up early have likely already done so. Still, there will likely be more than a few units pushed out from the physical and digital store shelves. After all, the folks at Gearbox Software are going to keep this game supported for a while, providing them with a reason to either finally pick up the game or keep players engaged.

While we are not yet at the full one-month mark from when Borderlands 4 launched, Sony PlayStation is revealing the best games from September. I’m sure you won’t be surprised to see this, but Borderlands 4 was among the best games for the platform across both the US and Canada, as well as the EU.

Borderlands 4 Was A Big Hit For PlayStation

On the official PlayStation Blog, Sony typically reveals the best games of the previous month. Since we’re early in October, we’re getting a look at what happened in September. Fortunately, it’s a breakdown across the US/Canada and the EU. Likewise, these official Sony breakdowns focus on specific platforms and even the best free-to-play games.

Since Borderlands 4 didn’t land in the marketplace for the PlayStation 4, we’re just going to focus on the PlayStation 5 chart. For the US/Canada market, we’re finding that Borderlands 4 came in second place. The only game to top it was NBA 2K26. Meanwhile, looking at the EU, there were a couple of games to come out on top.

In the EU, Borderlands 4 landed in third place. The game to top it was Hollow Knight: Silksong, in second place, with EA Sports FC 26 taking first place. But again, we’ll just have to see how things pan out when we get through this month and head into November.

Of course, Gearbox Software has been working on several patches to improve not only the game’s performance but also its balance. That’s something we already know will be an ongoing thing for Gearbox Software. With that said, we do know that, unfortunately, for Nintendo Switch 2 players, the game was delayed indefinitely for the platform. It looks like you’ll be waiting to see when and if you’ll ever get your hands on the game.
