Take-Two has shared the latest official update about Grand Theft Auto 6.

The company just had their annual shareholder meeting following their financial report for the fiscal year.
No Delays! No Advance Dates Either
Take-Two confirmed that GTA 6 is still coming this May 26, 2026. That should kill the FUD around the game possibly reaching another delay.
While Rockstar did not elaborate on the reasons for the delay, there does seem to be a clear explanation from the circumstantial evidence.
After an overwork/crunch controversy a few years back, Take-Two changed how they are running Rockstar’s game studios.
Some fans may misrepresent this, but we want to remind you that this is objectively a good thing.
If you don’t like games releasing riddled with technical issues, or horror stories of developers rushing to the deadline, this is what fixes that.
We didn’t really find any fans expecting or hoping to see that the game’s release could be brought earlier. It seems really unlikely that Rockstar would do that.
It makes more sense for Rockstar to focus on QA and polish if they do end up finishing work earlier than they anticipated. It’s probably too early for them to figure out if that’s happening anyway.
We’re Getting More Details “In The Future”
Take-Two also promised that they “will share more details in the future” about GTA 6. CEO Strauss Zelnick shared this statement:
As we bring our exciting lineup to market, including Grand Theft Auto VI in Fiscal 2027, we expect to achieve record levels of Net Bookings that will establish a new baseline for our business and set us on a path of enhanced profitability.
Some fans got too excited when some job listings came up for Rockstar’s New York studio. One listing referred to working on GTA 6, calling it the “largest game launch in history.”
Some fans seemed to have risen expectations that they would already see marketing or press for the game. Rockstar was definitely paying attention to that.
A few days later, they removed that language from said job listing. So this new statement is managing expectations.
So Take-Two promises more details, but they didn’t really say when. So are we getting a new trailer or something else next week? Or is this something we have to wait for on weeks, or even months?
Around this time in 2024 the rumor mill went wild over the Switch 2. Nintendo allowed fans to just do whatever they wanted, and so the console was not announced and revealed until the start of this year.
We can’t predict what Rockstar will do, but we think gamers should remember Nintendo’s example when they set their own expectations.
