2K Sports and WWE has given us a massive blast from the past.

They’ve shared a new preview for the biggest stars in their WWE 2K25 Attitude Era Superstars Pack: The New Age Outlaws, the Road Dogg Jesse James and Bad Ass Billy Gunn.
This pack also features D’lo Brown and Mark Henry, once members of the Nation of Domination and a tag team in their own right, as well as Divas champion Victoria.
With respect to everyone who made it to this pack, it’s well known that it was the Outlaws who reached the greatest success in their batch. In the peak of the Attitude Era, the Outlaws were the third highest merchandise sellers in the WWE, second only to Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.
A Short History For Wrestling Fans Who Really Are Too Young To Remember
Most fans won’t remember this, but James and Gunn were originally feuding with each other before Gunn turned on his manager Honky Tonk Man to form a new tag team with James. They would terrorize WWE’s tag team division, winning the WWE Tag Team championships multiple times and joining D-Generation X.
Initially heels, the New Age Outlaws would flip to becoming faces. Eventually, they transitioned into solo wrestlers again, and even feuded with each other over the DX name before eventually leaving the WWE.
Today, Jesse James is a ten + year employee of the WWE, moving roles between producer, writer, and trainer. Gunn now works in WWE rival company AEW as on-air talent.
And for those wondering, AEW and WWE have a mutual understanding that allows the Outlaws to both hold a WWE Legends contract, and that’s what made this possible.
Why Do People Love The New Age Outlaws?
The New Age Outlaws got formed in that period when WWE was transitioning away from its child-friendly “New Generation Era” into the “Attitude Era.” After disposing of their old gimmicks, the Outlaws joined the flow with their edgy new personas.
While Jesse was better on the mic, Billy proved to be up to the task in the ring. The tag team got over as massive cheaters who riled fans up. Eventually, fans got invested into them so much that they became the good guys.
The New Age Outlaws’ original run and the peak of their career lasted a surprisingly brief three years. Of course, those three years happened to be the greatest years the business had seen at the time.
WWE 2K25’s Season Packs Are For Children Of All Ages
