Grand Theft Auto VI was a massively anticipated video game releasing this year. Fans have been waiting for GTA 6 for years. It took Rockstar Games a long time to even acknowledge that there was a new installment in the works. However, when it was finally unveiled, fans rejoiced as it also confirmed that we would be getting the game sometime this year.
That didn’t last too long. Eventually, and likely expected by many, there was a delayed announcement. Still, before the delay, there were several studios that were hesitant to release their games into the marketplace. These studios knew that there was a high likelihood their games would be greatly overshadowed and would result in a financial hit.
GTA 6 Delay Was A Cause Of Great Celebration

When Rockstar Games revealed that they were delaying Grand Theft Auto VI out of 2025, it left more than a few studios relieved. One of those developers that was stressing over the fact that they would be launching their game alongside Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 was Sucker Punch Productions.
Thanks to GamesRadar, we’re finding out that MinnMax spoke with Ghost of Yotei co-creative director Nate Fox. During their conversation, Nate Fox noted that the team is still hungover from that glorious day when Grand Theft Auto VI was revealed to be delayed into May of 2026. A lot of partying, I’m sure, took place that day and continued as it now leaves Ghost of Yotei with a real shot at getting not only some media coverage for the title, but also players likely picking up their game.
Of course, now there is a lot of stress on other developers who likely had plans to release their games into the marketplace next year. While Ghost of Yotei is set to release on October 2, 2025, Rockstar Games is still eyeing its latest release date. We probably don’t need to remind you, but currently, Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on May 26, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
