A case that has fallen into relative obscurity over the past few weeks, Mojang and Bethesda have finally come to terms on what will happen regarding “Scrollsâ€.
Notch tweeted today – in his usual carefree tone – that the companies had come to a mutual agreement: “AND!! We’ve settled with Bethesda! Yaaaay! <3â€
After some revelry with his followers over Twitter, he once again took to the popular social medium – this time going into a bit more detail concerning the final agreement.
“The settlement is that we give them the trademark,” he said, “get to keep the name, and won’t make an Elder Scrolls competitor using the name.” Not that it was likely to in the first place.
So, all-in-all, the two companies will continue very much the same way they would have in the beginning, provided Bethesda did not sue Mojang. Was this a colossal waste of time or necessary legal procedure? You be the judge – comment below!
