Left 4 Dead Creator Teases Their Next Game Project

September 1, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Mike Booth takes to Reddit and reveals he has something cooking up.

Some truly iconic multiplayer games will stand the test of time. One of those games that continues to see praise and player activity years after release is Left 4 Dead. This game was an enormous hit when it was first released. Up to four players worked together to make their way out of a zombie apocalypse.

Mike Booth is responsible for Left 4 Dead, having helped found Turtle Rock Studios. Left 4 Dead was their most significant success, which Mike started developing in 2004. Of course, since then, he has left the company, which was absorbed by Valve in 2008. Since then, he has bounced to a few different places, including Blizzard Entertainment and Facebook.

Currently, Mike is the chief creative officer at Bad Robot Games. You might know the name more for their various films and television shows. This company was responsible for productions such as Lost to Cloverfield. However, they have also dabbled in video games with Bad Robot Games. Of course, their latest release was Silent Hill: Ascension, and that game wasn’t winning any awards among fans. So, fingers crossed, we don’t see a similar fate with this upcoming title from Mike.

However, as mentioned, Mike is starting to tease their latest project. Taking to Reddit, Mike Booth noted that he is developing a brand-new four-player cooperative shooter. It’s also said that this game was built upon the foundations of what made Left 4 Dead special.

Mike stated that if you enjoy teamwork, tension, and replayability, then you’ll find this game of interest. Likewise, it appears that Mike is finally able to expand on the co-op format he had envisioned for a long time. While we don’t have a reveal ready quite yet, it seems Mike wants to get some playtests going and is inviting players to sign up right here.

Now we’ll have to wait and see what Mike has cooking up. There is certainly a strong fan base for the Left 4 Dead franchise. Hopefully, he will be able to capture lightning in a bottle again. But for now, we’re left waiting on the game premise.
