What Is Pokemon Legends Z-A Teasing With Its Newest Image?

August 19, 2025 by Todd Black

Is something truly dark coming?

It’s already been a big week for Pokemon Legends Z-A, as the game recently got a new trailer that showed off a special new online battle mode for players to participate in. Plus, we’re now less than two months away from the game’s release on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, which has players very excited. Yet, The Pokemon Company seems intent on dropping even more revelations about the game and what will be in it, and in the latest teaser image, things are apparently going to get creepy. Take a look at the image below and see what we’re talking about:

Whatever it’s teasing for Thursday, it clearly thinks that “viewer discretion is advised.” However, that might just be them having fun and showing that this will be a “horror-style video,” not unlike certain “found footage” films of the past.

The irony here is that this wouldn’t be the first time that the company has done things like this. Fans will remember that there were times when Gen IX was showcased, and it highlighted certain Ghost-Type Pokemon via a found footage-style to show off who they were and tease who will be in the generation. While there won’t be any new Pokemon in the game, we are getting new Mega Evolutions, so it’s possible that we’re going to see one of them in the “reveal video,” and that could be enough to “scare people.”

Eagle-eyed Pokemon trainers were able to see that within the picture was a large splotch of purple goo, and there was a hole in the fence where it was. So, it’s possible that the creature in question worked its way through the fence via that goo, which could make it a Poison-type alongside a Ghost-type. We’ll just have to wait and see how this all plays out, and what else the game has in store for us with such teasers.

Another fun element here is that the image and the upcoming video clearly take place at night. The reason that’s important is that Pokemon Legends Z-A has a day and night cycle that is very important to the game’s story and the gameplay model itself. During the day, players will go around Lumiose City attempting to help people and do certain other gameplay elements. Then, at night, players will partake in the Z-A Battle Royale, where they’ll fight to get to the top position in the city.

Could this video tie into something else that happens at night? We’ll have to wait for Friday to see!
