Minecraft PC Price to Increase Depending on Region

May 20, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

Is your location one of the affected regions?

Mojang has announced that Minecraft will increase in price worldwide to “align with the United States Dollar.” No doubt a decision made by Microsoft, the popular sandbox builder will see a small increase in price in places like Canada, Europe and New Zealand due to the stronger US currency in recent months. Some places like Denmark will see the price being raised by almost double. That’s rough.

If you want to get the game at its current price, you have until May 23rd to do so, because that’s when the new prices come into effect.

“If you haven’t bought Minecraft yet, it might be worth purchasing in the next week if your pocket money allowance isn’t aligned with the United States Dollar,” Mojang said. “You could end up saving yourself a pretty penny.”

Check the pricing table below for the adjustments.

Microsoft paid $2.5b to acquire Mojang in 2014 and have since supported the game’s release across all of the platforms it’s available on, including the Nintendo Wii U and PlayStation 4.
