Silent Hill fans are finally getting a chance to see their franchise bask in the limelight again. For ages, this franchise had been dormant. Most of the later game releases that came out before its dormancy were a shell of the franchise’s former self. However, it wasn’t too long ago that Konami surprised fans with a comeback to the IP.
We have seen a slew of games get announced to the masses. This included new games like the upcoming Silent Hill F, as well as a remake of its biggest title, Silent Hill 2. With Bloober Team surprising fans worldwide, the remake was an instant hit, sparking Konami to hand over the original installment for a similar treatment.
Silent Hill GOG PC Port Could Be Coming Soon
While it’s great to see Silent Hill receive a remake from the team that handled Silent Hill 2’s remake with such care, we do love the original. That first title has been an iconic survival horror hit. Originally released in 1999, the title was an exclusive release to the PlayStation.
Of course, it’s since been made available with ports on the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3. So, there has been a means to go back and enjoy this game on the PlayStation side of things. However, GOG aims to bring the original classic back to the forefront with Silent Hill receiving a PC release.
Taking to YouTube, GOG unveiled a teaser of Silent Hill, asking fans to vote for its release. GOG’s Dreamlist is a way that GOG gauges players’ interest in potential future games. Overall, these titles are typically hard to find, but they get a new lease of life through the PC platform.
With GOG adding Silent Hill to Dreamlist, it has already garnered over 90,000 votes from fans. Players not only want to enjoy this game on the PC platform as Team Silent originally crafted it, but they also wish to see it preserved.
Of course, it’s only in the voting stage, so we’ll have to see if GOG and Konami work out a deal to bring this game back. This might also help get some more attention and interest in the upcoming remake. Although only time will tell.
Again, if you haven’t already heard, Bloober Team and Konami have officially confirmed a Silent Hill remake. That announcement was nothing more than a title screen of the game. So we’re still waiting for our first real look at the game.
