Rovio Asks Angry Birds Movie Attendees To Turn Phones On

May 20, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

But only during the credits.

The cinemas within the United States have been in the news lately regarding the use of smartphones. Select cinemas have been kicking around the idea of allowing patrons to use their smartphones while the featured film is playing, though, after debates and some backlash, the idea was quickly tossed away. Now Rovio is asking fans to turn their phones on when it comes to The Angry Birds Movie.

The Angry Birds Movie is officially out today at your local cinema and we’re just now finding out that the developers behind this addicting little mobile game had something special for those who see the film in theaters. During the credits, you’ll want to whip out your smartphone and open up the app Angry Birds Action!

As the film goes through the credits, viewers can have the Angry Birds Action application recognize a special watermark displayed on the screen. This will result in gamers getting special access and unlock content right on their smartphone.

More specifically, the watermark from The Angry Birds Movie will unlock a special level along with an additional exclusive movie clip. You can take a look as to how the process works by watching the trailer posted above.

Angry Birds has come a long way and it’s only growing in popularity. Now that the game has its own official animated film in theaters today, we’re curious to know, are you going to catch the film? Let us know by dropping a comment down below. Furthermore, if you decide to go, make sure to capture the free exclusive content with the app, Angry Birds Action!
