Tango Gameworks is now hiring for their next game – and it’s clear that a lot has changed.

At the start of the year, the company announced that they were launching a fresh start. At that point, it was already a few months since they were acquired by Krafton. However, it seemed that the company was still trying to figure out who they would be able to bring back since the studio closed.
We also knew that they were opening a new office in Tokyo, as they already lost their original location to new tenants. But Tango Gameworks and Krafton chose to stay mum on their progress until now.
Today, Tango has shared new that they are hiring for their new, unannounced action game. They said this:
While we aren’t ready to reveal much yet, Tango Gameworks has a number of positions open for early work on an unannounced action game!
The positions span almost every department, so if you are interested in working with the team behind such hit releases as Hi-Fi RUSH, read up on our studio philosophy, get to know some of our team in the Creators section, and then learn more about our studio and hiring on our recruitment page.
We’re always on the lookout for talented creators to bring our next handcrafted game to life!
There really isn’t much that’s been revealed about their game on their website’s career page, but it does indicate this under qualifications:
Development staff: Experienced console game developers with the passion to create something new. Ability to communicate in Japanese required.
It’s certainly a little strange that PC experience is not required, but it is true that most Japanese video games are still made for consoles first. It’s possible that they do already have the people they need to work on PC as well.
They have named their current team and their positions below:
- John Johanas – Creative Director
- Kazuaki Egashira – Development Department Head
- Masaaki Yamada – Lead Game Designer
- Yosuke Ishikawa – Lead Character Artist
- Mihoko Takahashi – Lead Environment Designer
- Yuxin Cong – Environment Artist
- Yuji Nakamura – Senior Application Designer
- Yuriko Takata – Senior Animator
- Shuichi Kobori – Audio Director
- Masatoshi Yanagi – Senior Composer
- Ayana Muraoka – Lead UI Designer
- Koei Kikuchi – Lead VFX Artist
- Yuka Matsui – VFX Artist
- Mikhail Ignatov – Senior Concept Artist
- Keita Sakai – Lead Concept Artist
We were able to confirm that all but one of the named team members worked on Hi-Fi Rush. Yuriko Takata, the sole exception is listed on Mobygames as a Cutscene Director for 2019’s Kingdom Hearts III. To be clear, it is possible Yuriko Takata also worked on Hi-Fi Rush, and has not yet been properly credited on the site.
And we have to assume that there are considerably more people at Tango Gameworks now, especially since it’s already been half a year. Tango’s big coming out includes debuting a new logo, stepping away from the snail logo they had when they were founded in 2010 by Shinji Mikami. The new logo is a stylish T formed by simple lines, reflecting a refined design sensibility.
All things considered, Tango hasn’t dropped enough hints that this new game could be a Hi-Fi Rush 2, a Hi-Fi Rush spinoff, or a completely original new title. We do hope, while they work on this new calculated risk, that they have already planned or even started work on new ports for the original Hi-Fi Rush. We have it on good authority there’s a big new platform that could be a great place for this game to find new fans.
