A Blizzard Franchise Is Reportedly Getting A Netflix Adaptation

April 14, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

More adaptations are underway.

We have been seeing a real blossom lately with video game adaptations. Everyone is looking for a piece, whether it’s networks like HBO or streaming platforms like Netflix. However, there hasn’t been any slowing down on these adaptations quite yet. In fact, a new report suggests that Blizzard is already in talks with Netflix about adapting one of their own IPs.

Thanks to a report from The Gamer, we’re learning that Jez Corden spoke about this adaptation in a recent podcast. Unfortunately, don’t get too excited, as this podcast doesn’t provide any insight into what franchise could be in the works. Instead, it’s only noted that some consideration is being given to one of the franchises under Blizzard.

Beyond that, we don’t know if it’s set to be a live-action adaptation or an animated series. We’ve seen success on both fronts. Now, the speculation can run wild about what adaptation could happen. Previously, there were reports that Blizzard was in talks with Netflix years ago on Diablo and Overwatch. Both franchises have games that are currently being supported as well.

If the adaptation is successful, there could be a real resurgence of players interested in the game franchise. That could be great, no matter what game series is adapted. Of course, it’s not unheard of when a franchise that doesn’t have a current active game is adapted. After all, we can look at Twisted Metal, which had some success with its own live-action series adaptation without a new game for players to dive into. Still, that could allow developers to go back and craft something up now that there could be an even larger pool of potential players interested in the series.

Regardless, it’s exciting news for Blizzard fans. We’ll just have to wait and see if any official announcements come out. That said, we might be in the dark about this adaptation for a while.
