The Elder Scrolls franchise is quite the behemoth. Fans have continued to enjoy the slew of games released by the folks at Bethesda, with the latest mainline entry still being The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, what we might get before the release of The Elder Scrolls 6 is a remake or remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
There have been rumors for a while now that this is a game project in the works. That came from some documents that emerged online after the FTC investigation fiasco with Xbox. Those leaks came out back in 2023, and so far, we’re still waiting for official word regarding this potential remaster. Now, rumors online suggest that we won’t get much of a heads-up at all.
Instead, the rumors tend to indicate that the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could happen as a shadow drop. Some credible industry insiders who have suggested that this month is still targeted for the release of Oblivion include NateTheHate, who took to X on the game’s release just yesterday.
Meanwhile, a Reddit post had pointed out that an update on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition Deluxe had been updated. This update removed the game trailers, which are again raising alarms. Some fans online have pointed out that this is a practice for games about to have a remaster or remake release.
Again, this is all speculative right now, as we don’t have confirmation that a remaster or remake is coming. We’ll just have to wait and see if the rumors prove to be true, and either we get a shadow drop of this game or if there’s an announcement post highlighting when the game will be released into the marketplace. Of course, we’re always ready to see a shadow drop, as this might give some fans something to dig into this weekend.
