Halo fans have a slew of releases to go back and enjoy today. The games have remained exclusive to Microsoft’s Xbox console platforms and the PC. However, with Microsoft moving towards a multiplatform release, it’s been speculated that Halo is coming soon to rival consoles. Now, a new report suggests that for the Nintendo Switch 2, we might only get a very selective set of games from the franchise.
The news comes from industry insider Tom Warren. Tom was recently asked about the upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation this week. We know that the upcoming Direct will be based around the Nintendo Switch 2. Likewise, it has been reported in the past that Microsoft would provide a lot of support. During a recent podcast episode upload featuring Tom, the topic of the Direct brought up the Master Chief Collection.
However, Tom shot that speculation down by saying he doesn’t believe it will be a collection release. Instead, he only noted that not every game would be played on the console. Unfortunately, he didn’t expand on this point, so we don’t know exactly what is coming to the platform. This could also be a staggered release with game installments coming to the platform rather than dropping them all simultaneously.
Likewise, there have been rumors that Halo might be getting a remake. So, perhaps that’s why Microsoft is pumping the brakes on releasing all the Halo games on the platform. Of course, it would be big news if any Halo game happened to make the leap from Xbox and PC to rival platforms.
It’ll remain a mystery as Microsoft has yet to confirm a port release is coming. We don’t have too long to wait, with the Nintendo Direct set to take place on April 2, 2025. We might get some kind of an announcement for Halo fans on the platform during this presentation.
