After the success of Detective Pikachu and Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo is pressing onward. We knew they were working on a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, but today, we’re finding out when the movie will come out. That news came out through today’s update on the official Nintendo Today application.
If you had watched the Nintendo Direct presentation yesterday, you would have learned that a new mobile application was being introduced. Nintendo was keen on advertising its Nintendo Today app for mobile phones. This new app further highlights the company’s announcements and updates daily. What might have surprised some fans was the first new update announcement from the app would be on the Zelda film.
As noted by VGC, the Nintendo Today app revealed that The Legend of Zelda live-action movie would be released in theaters on March 26, 2027. So, we’re still a long way off before that movie comes out, but Nintendo wants fans to get excited and know that they are pushing to see this film come out early in the 2027 calendar year.
Unfortunately, we’re still very much in the dark about this movie. We don’t know what else to expect other than knowing that it is set to be a live-action film with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto producing and Wes Ball directing it. We’re sure there will be plenty of interest when casting starts to go out and we see who takes on the role of some of our favorite characters.
However, right now, we’ll have to practice some patience. If the Nintendo Today application is available in your region, you should have it on your smartphone. Otherwise, you’ll miss out on announcements like this one! If supported in your region, the application is available on both iPhone and Android devices. You just have to search for the app on the App Store or Google Play Store.
