When it comes to the service known as Nintendo Music, many have been very surprised that it’s gotten so much music from various eras of Nintendo platforms, including ones from both console games and handheld titles. The reason this was shocking was that, for the longest time, Nintendo didn’t seem to care about game music outside of the games themselves, even taking down fan-made channels on YouTube that had OSTs. However, with Nintendo Music, that perception has now changed, and games are constantly being added to it, including Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s OST, which has gotten a partial release on the service.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a special game in multiple ways, including it being the first semi-open-world title in the franchise. That might not seem like a big deal, but it helped make it a smash hit on the Nintendo Switch when it came out a few years back. Players were whisked away from Dream Land and tasked with not just exploring this new space, but saving all the Waddle Dees that were within it.
With new perspectives to enjoy, players were truly able to immerse themselves in the game world, and that was a lot of fun for them.
Plus, Kirby himself got numerous new powers, including the ability to partially swallow certain “real-world items” to do unique transformations that we’d never seen before. To say it was clever is an understatement, as it was a game-defining feature in many respects.
Going back to the soundtrack, you might wonder why we said the OST got a “partial release,” and that’s because Insider Stealth revealed that only 23 of the game’s songs have been put on Nintendo Music so far. However, Stealth also claimed that more are coming by the end of the year.
Speaking of “the end of the year,” many will likely wonder if Kirby will be featured in one of the “launch titles” for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. That’s not a stretch to ask for a few key reasons. First, it’s been a while since his last game. Second, there have been rumors of an HD remaster for one of his 3DS titles, which could easily serve as a “new game” for the Switch 2. Third, Kirby’s past games have all been big sellers, especially on Switch, and have “evergreen” sales qualities. So, Nintendo could see it as a “wise move” to bring a game of his to the console in the first year.
We’ll have to see how it all goes down.
