Refunds for digital game purchases can be a little tricky. Each storefront offers its own policy on the matter. But sometimes, you can still navigate this policy and secure your money again. We’re sure that there are plenty of cases where this has happened in the past. One of the more recent releases, Civilization VII, might be a game that will soon see an influx of refund requests for those who purchased a copy on the PlayStation 5.
This is not necessarily an old game. Civilization VII was released just this past month. But today, we’re learning that a Reddit user revealed that they got a refund from the game recently despite surpassing the fourteen-day policy and have been downloaded.
Official PlayStation Store Refund Policy
- Content has not been downloaded or streamed.
- A refund request has been made within fourteen days of the purchase.
According to the user on Reddit, they had played the game and found that it would constantly crash and feature too many bugs, leaving less than an ideal gameplay experience. After waiting for a patch and speaking with developers, the issues persisted.
After providing all that information and going through some of the troubleshooting prompts, Sony’s PlayStation support went ahead with the refund despite it going against its policy. That success might trigger quite a few more players to reach out for a refund after not being satisfied with their gameplay experience.
Of course, this isn’t an official refund call right now for Sony. We’re not looking at another Cyberpunk 2077 case where Sony openly refunded the game due to the state CD Projekt Red had released it. So, if you are looking for a refund, your mileage might vary here, but it could be worth a shot if the game continues to be problematic.
Those of you looking for our impressions of the game are in luck. We did do a Before You Buy video on the game when it was released. You can find that video embedded below.
