Collectible card game Chronicle: Runescape Legends is set to launch fully on Steam on Thursday, May 26th.
The Runescape spin-off is playable via open beta which has been available to try out for the last few months. If you download the beta and play it before midnight on Sunday, May 15th you’ll receive three free packs to play.
Chronicle was originally released back in October 2014.
“It’s just two weeks until we officially throw open the doors to Chronicle’s Hall of Legends on May 26, and its launch on Steam is only the beginning for what we have planned. We’ve already introduced new cards every week, increased rewards and balanced improvements, and there’s even more content planned for the months to come,” James Sweatman, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends‘ lead designer said in a press release.
“We’d like to thank the many tens of thousands of cunning card tacticians who have helped us in open beta with feedback to refine the Chronicle’s unique CCG gameplay mechanics,” he continued. “For our existing open beta players, and anyone who signs up over the weekend, we’re offering up three free card packs so they can build their decks ready to take on new rivals at launch.”
The launch announcement comes not long after a report claimed Jagex, developer of Runescape and Chronicle, was discussing a potential $300 million acquisition by a Chinese mining firm.
You can download the game’s beta from the game’s website and check our preview here where we said, “From what we’ve seen so far, Jagex may have something interesting on their hands. A game that adds strategic parallel play on top of traditional card-battling tactics could be different enough to garner serious interest from collectible card game fans, and even win some players from HearthStone.“
